This is one of the little classmates I cut out of paper and used in illustrating the book. Damn, can I just say, I spent like 20 minutes on cutting just the glasses… Damn.

Design of the Book Cover

Hey y’all!

Here’s the cover so far! OMG so many little limbs and planes and shoes and omg….
In the scene they have just finished learning about Henry Ford and the production-line concept. To explain the idea to the kiddos, Robert (the author/ main character/ man in blue shirt) teaches the 1st graders how to make paper planes.

Designing the cover was so tedious putting all those kids together. Sheesh. But I like how all the chaos of the image is focused in the bottom of the cover with the title in the chalkboard and the author’s name on the carpet.

Hello All!

Well, I’m just about finished illustrating this book (“Everything I Know About Lean I Learned in First Grade”), I just have 4 more little classmates to cut out of paper and some end-of-chapter vectors that will be included.

At the moment I am working on a gator frame for my cousins’ Houston swim team. Get ‘em Gators!

Love,
Liz :D

Ok, so right now I’m working on the illustrations for a book on business principles. The story is told through the perspective of a father’s day at his daughter’s first day of first grade.  As he goes through the day with his daughter, Abbey, he realizes that the school system utilizes many of the principles which drive business to success. “Learning Lean in First Grade” is Robert Martichenko’s 4th book and he owns a business consulting company called LeanCor, which helps businesses streamline efficiency and such.

The images I’m making are vectors for the end-of-chapter summary thing and for the images that coincide with the story, I’m cutting it all out of paper, scanning it into my mac and photoshopping it all together. This is a little preview of what’s happening. It’s very reminiscent of the good ol’ days of South Park.

It’ll be published in full color and will be printed as soon as I can get these done…

so I’m gonna get back to work.
:D word.
